Mantova, 1912 - Roma, 1995
After completing his artistic formative artistic years in Venice, Turcato moved to Milan, where some of his works were exhibited in "Galleria Grande" during 1941. The painter then went to Rome and in 1942 took part in the creation of the Art Club with Prampolini, Fazzini, Mafai, Dorazio, Consagra and others.
The artistic movements in which Turcato finds affinity are Cubism, Expressionism and elements of a certain abstractism which was one again inspired by nature. In 1946 he signs the "Manifesto di Nuova Secessione Artistica Italiana" and a few months later founds the group Forma 1 with Accardi, Consagra, Dorazio and others, the objective of which was the support of abstract art based on pure form, contrasting the Neorealist and Neoconcrete movements.
In 1950 he takes part in the "Gruppo degli otto" supported by the critic Lionello Venturi. In 1960 he enters in the group "Continuitą" with Perilli and others; his artistic research now concentreting on colours.
Through his career Turcato has exhibited in numerous collective, personal and anthological events, both in Italy and abroad.
