Alberto Sughi (Cesena 1927)
The works were painted after visiting the Biennale di Venezia (in Venice) during 1948. Sughi was particularly fascinated by a still life by Fougeron, so much so that he told Cappelli and Caldari about it. Together the three had opened a studio in Cesena and inspired by Sughi they began painting still lifes in which everyday objects were charged with great passion.
The unrealistic colour, painted with violent strokes fills the spaces created by the cutting lines that define the figures clearly. Both works are signed to the right, in the lower part.
