I Santi Filippo Apostolo e Francesca Romana

The altarpiece was commissioned, together with eight canvasses, by the noblewoman Giacoma Sassi Fabbri, in 1663 for the Church of Saints Joachim and Anna. The main figures are Saint Philip, turning his glance toward the spectator, holds an astylar crucifix in his left hand and a book in jis right one, with Saint Francesca Romana, who looks upwards heaven ansd holds scroll in her hand on which is written: TENVISTI MANV DEXTERA MEA ET VOLVTATE TVA DEDVXISTI ME ET CVM GLORIA SVSCEPISTI ME.

Space is delimited by some essential architectural elements and a staircase upon which the two saints stand. Far..., up the centre, a small and luminous landscape can be made out.
