Venetian Master (1420 c.) - Tempera on wood; cm 48,5 x 40
The small painting attributed to Bitino da Faenza, has been more correctly considered the work of Veneto Master of whom there is no precise information.
It is dated around 1420 and it reached the Municipal art Gallery in donation from Alfredo Protti of Cesena.
The scene represents Jesus, seated in the harm of the Madonna who holds a pear in her other hand for the child to take. Particulars in this scene like the golden background, the unreal space, the lack of perspective and the symbolism adopted for the pear, that is identifiable in the sacrifice of Jesus, and the angels following are characteristic of the style in the late Gothic period.
