Giannetto Malmerendi

Faenza, 1893 - Cesena, 1968

After his formatives years in Faenza, and at the Academy of Art in Bologna Malmerendi Approaches futurism, the main exponents of which, he had met in Bologna in the course of 1914. He comes into contact with Marinetti and Boccioni to whom he sends the photographs of his futurist painting, which are inspired by Boccioni's plastic dynamism.

On his move to Cesena where he is employed as a state school teacher in 1919, he abandons futurism and returns to figuration. Malmerendi above all paints landscapes, still lifes, and scenes of daily life in Romagna, rendered in a realistic tone.

e collaborates with artist in Cesena, like Mario Morigi and Gino Conti, also applying himself to the technique of faience.
