Cesena, 1697 - 1751
Francesco Andreini appeared on the artistic scenario in Cesena, at a moment, in which there was a definite lack of innovative painters, therefore he met with the lasting success which can be testified by the setting up of a studio, which was active throughout the 18th century and beyond. As far as his artistic formation is concerned, the painter was influenced by Cignani and the Bolognese culture, which he came into contact with during a stay in Bologna during 1725, where he probably attended the Accademia Clementina.
Andreini got the inspirations for his works from Baroque protagonists like Caravaggio and Reni. The two paintings on display in the Gallery are l'Allegoria della Carità
and the Portrait of Cardinal Francesco Locatelli
.
