Bambina

Gino Emilio Conti (Barga di Lucca, 1900 - Providence, 1982) - Oil on canvas; cm 66 x 51

The painting signed to the right of the lower part of the picture can be dated to around 1930-35 and finds its origins in the period in which the artist was in Cesena.

The subject is a "Little girl" who is wearing a short, blue dress and beige shoes.

She is depicted standing, learning on a wall, hands behind her back and head bent left.

he strokes are broad and synthetic, the intense light reflects on the wall and makes the contrast between the warm hues of her face and the cold ones of her dress stand out. The simplicity of the composition focalised the attention on the little girl's absurbed expression.
