Mario Morigi in interested in the themes of country life, in which he depicts beauty, adhering to the realist style.
In the foreground, to the left, a haystack is seen, one of the artist's favourite subject, in fact in 1967, he holds a travelling exhibition which is called 'Haystack'.
This is a theme with which the artist can interpret the most diverse light effect, forms and depth. Colour, intense and harmonious, is exalted by the sunset, whose light comes from the right.
The work is signed and dated 1944 in the bottom right part of the painting.
