Fortunato Teodorani (Cesena, 1888
- 1960) - Olio su tela; cm 37 x 59
The scene represents the procession that is taking place in "Piazza del Popolo", at Cesena, packed with priests and the faithful, some of whom are kneeling.
The work confirms the realist style of the painter, whose habit it was to paint scenes of everyday life, with the intention of exhalting the colours of nature. In the first ground, the characters and canopy are accurately represented with short, clearly defined strokes; the people in the background too, and the fountain are precisely illustrated by the artist. The sky, instead, maybe in order to concede a sense of vivacity to the composition is painted with fast, synthetic strokes.
