Eugenio Amadori (Cesena, 1938) - Olio su tela;
cm 49 x 40
The picture was painted in 1964, as can be seen by the date and segnature in the bottom right-hand corner.
The artist himself gave the painting to the Art Gallery. The mother is depicted in a half-length portrait wearing a red, long-sleeved dress and a head-scarf, which was the typical ourfit worn by country people, it looks as if she is resting as her eyes are closed and her head bent.
The warm light of the sun, natural and indirect, illuminates the woman from above, the shifts in tone quite distinct. Another work by the artist, a carbon drawing depicting the same figure is also on show in the Gallery.
