Anselmo Gianfanti (Montiano, 1857 - Cesena 1903) - Oil on canvas; cm 75 x 60
The work, dated around 1885-90, reveals how the artistis gifted in the use of color and his sensitivy in painting delicate female figures.
The woman portrayed, half length, wears an elegant gown with lace and fringers that, real protagonist of the canvas, captures the attention of the observer throught its extraordinary luminosity. The scene is rendered with touch strokes that reveal the technique learnt during the period spent in Naples with the master Domenico Morelli.
The painting infuses a sense of serenity thanks to the delicate pale colours, the relaxed attitude and absorbed expression of the woman whose glance is directed upward and outward beyond the painting.
