Giovan Battista Razzani (Cesena, 1603 - 1666) - Oil on canvas; cm 280 x 190
Documented in the last period of the XVII century, the painting, placed at the entrance of the Church of Santa Croce in Cesena, represents San Guarino from Bologna. This is testified to by the inscription.
We can divide the painting into two parts: the earthly one and the beyond the earth one.
In the first part we can see the Saint seated on a cloud with an expression of complete ecstasy. Beside him on the left there is a musician angel, while on the right there is another angel holding him up.
In the second part there is the Madonna with the Child. Nearby, one on the right and one on the left, we find two angels, playing instruments.
The background represents a natural landscape, a man, two steps and a column. The instruments are very important because San Guarino is enraptured by the music.
