Bartolomeo Passerotti (?) (Bologna, 1529 - 1592) - Oil on canvas; cm 68 x 53
The canvass of reduced dimensions depict a youth, three quarter bust, who is looking towards the observer.
The figure depicted has been identified by many scholars as Camillo Zanotti, a sixteenth Century singer and composes from Cesena; his attributes are, in fact, a lute and a music score which he is holding in his hands. The static posture and feeling of austerity that transpires from the character's expression are accentuated by the particular use of light and shadows.
