Fontanellato, 1716 (?) - Cesena, 1798
After studying in Parma in the workshop of Ilario Spolverini, the artist, moves to Cesena in 1735 where he lived and worked until his death, although he worked on several occasions in other localities in Emilia-Romagna.
He soon became the privileged painter of reference for Cesena's private and ecclesiastical purchasers distinguishing himself above all in large fresco decoration, where he was able to blend the late Emilian baroque with the rococo grandeur of Corrado Giaquinto, who worked in Cesena from 1750 to 1751.
On show in the Gallery are works such as his Madonna con il Bambino e San Luigi Gonzaga
, portraits of cardinal Aurelio Roverella and the Gentleman Giuseppe della Massa as well as 25 sketches carried out for the decoration of the dome and the presbytery of the Abbey of Santa Maria del Monte (1772-1773), an enterprise of notable significance in the town circles.
